Coronavirus (Covid-19) is spreading rapidly in Jammu city. A probationer sub-inspector posted at Janipur police station tested positive for the deadly virus following which, the police station was sealed.
Police station staff have been quarantined within the police station. The movement of common people to Janipur police station has been stopped till further orders.
In fact, as soon as the lockdown started, all the Probationer Sub-Inspectors (PSI) training in the police academy were posted on special duty in Jammu.
During this time, a PSI from Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy in Udhampur was deployed in Janipur police station in the month of March to make law and order.
Now as soon as unlock 2 starts, the police administration instructed all the probationer sub-inspectors and deputy superintendents of police who are training to report back to their training by 12 July.
Under this, the PSI posted at Janipur police station was asked to report back. Before returning to training, their corona examination samples were taken.
He was found positive on Sunday morning when this report came. He was immediately sent to a special Covid hospital maintained by the government. While all the staff posted at the police station were asked to quarantine, they were advised to stay away from their homes.
A senior police officer confirmed that the PSI corona has been infected and around 25 people on duty with the PSI have been advised to take precautions.
It is being ascertained to whom PSI came into contact. All the officals with him will be investigated.
